REPLACEMENT SENSOR

The COSTAR® VC CO sensor has a lifetime of at least 2.5 years (30 months). About 60 days before the end of life, the COSTAR® VC will begin to beep once every 15 seconds. If the sensor is not replaced within 60 days, the COSTAR® VC will turn the fans ON and go into fault mode. It cannot be reset until the sensor is replaced.

Installation Instructions

The sensor module is a sensitive electronic device that can be damaged if improperly handled. Do not expose the sensor to static electrical charges, solvents, chemicals, or extreme heat or cold. The sensor module comes enclosed in a special plastic bag for protection from static electricity. Do not remove the sensor from the bag until ready to install it. Be especially careful in handling the sensor module when the humidity is low and static electricity is most likely to build up.

To install a new sensor module:

1. Turn OFF the power to the COSTAR VC.

2. Open the enclosure and remove the sensor module by pulling it straight out of the socket. Discard the old sensor module.

3. Remove the new sensor from the bag, insert into socket and seat firmly. The module will fit easily only in one direction.

4. Close the COSTAR enclosure.

5. Turn ON the power to the COSTAR VC. Upon power-up, the COSTAR VC will beep once, the green lamp (POWER) will flash and the yellow lamp (FAN) will turn on.

Note: Your COSTAR replacement sensor has been stored without power. Whenever a COSTAR sensor has been OFF for an extended time, it may take up to several hours of operation for the sensor to reach its proper operation point. To provide maximum protection during the warm-up period your COSTAR VC will run the ventilation fans (yellow lamp ON) until the sensor reaches its proper operating point.

If you COSTAR VC malfunctions consult the COSTAR VC installation instructions for a troubleshooting procedure.
